Christiaan NAGEL

Christiaan NAGEL

If you walk around London looking above you you may encounter one of the c100 Christiaan Nagel's colored mushrooms. Made from polyurethane ‘surfboard foam’, fiberglass and stainless steel, the brightly coloured mushrooms can be spotted all over the City fringes. Many London citizens are now happy to discover that a mushroom grew on their rooftop overnight Bethnal Green Road (London) May 2014

ROA

A pig by ROA. Strangely enough ROA painted this in small scale and not as the usual giant murales. Anyway, ROA's animals usually fits with the local environment and in fact, this pig can be found in ... Bacon Street Bacon Street (London) November 2013

STIK

STIK

"These shouty people were painted at the end of a cobbled street, just off Brick Lane. It was a very reverberant street and there were always motorbikes parked outside the building, because the people who worked in there fixed motorbikes for a living. So engines were always being revved up and it just seemed to me like this really aggro street, so I drew some shouty people" Stik Grimsby Street (London) November 2016

STIK

STIK

On (a detour on) my way home tonight I finally managed to find this beautiful work by Stik. I saw it years ago on the web but was unable to locate it until today. Stik became famous for his simple human figures. They usually represent the people of the local community. What I love is the fact that Stik's humans are extremely sweet and all seems to have a soul. This one is in Princelet St, just off Brick Lane, near the mosque. You can feel the love Princelet Street 1 December 2016

Ben SLOW (?)

Ben SLOW (?)

The portrait of Charlie Burns, a famous local inhabitant of Bacon Street. By the technique I believe this was done by Ben Slow. It replaced another portrait of Charlie that was later vandalised (see other pictures on this page) Bacon Street (London) November 2016

Ben SLOW

Beautiful portrait by Ben Slow of Charlie Burns. Apparently Charlie was a famous and well respected guy in the local area, who was lived in Brick Lane between 1915 and 2013 … some vandalism started spooling the artwork already back in 2013. As of November 2016, the piece is gone but has been replaced by another beautiful portrait of Charlie Bacon Street (London) November 2013

SHOK-1

SHOK-1

Shok-1 completed this in Summer 2016. This is part of his X-ray series with spray paint. The artist said it did in response of hostilities arising from the UK-EU referendum. The work is called Master Peace. Now an important thing to note here is that with X-ray, you don’t know which side you are looking. If this, or that ... probably, by the title, he wanted a friendly message ... but with a twist that is also a fuck-you to the result of referendum? Fournier Street (London) November 2016

Otto SCHADE

Otto SCHADE

The famous smile by Otto Schade is today 3 years old. Despite some vandalism, it resisted the time and has been revamped by the artist recently. Some of the names changed (Hoxton became Brick Lane) while new roads where added, like Brixton, Camden and Stratford Brick Lane (London) November 2016

Otto SCHADE

Chilenen architect Otto Schade painted this smile which can be seen in Brick Lane. The smile has the shape of the river Thames when it crosses London. As of December 2016 the picture still exists and has been "revamped" by the artist (spot the differences) Brick Lane (London) December 2013
